dreams under the almost full Moon

I am out to dinner
plates with beans, mash, some other stuff - it’s all very good
my paternal grandfather is there.
desserts are served. a small plate with a little white ball.
someone - my grandfather? - eats mine.
I confront him. that he needs to get me a replacement.
he’s confused that I’d assert myself like that.
he gets up and talks to the staff but doesn’t get me a replacement.
instead he is getting stuff for some young men who just joined the table.
I serve myself some green salad. soooo fresh.
I take more than half of what’s left. I notice this and do it anyway.

someone has a baby.
so small, tightly wrapped up.
out in the noisy world immediately after birth.
I ask to hold her, and I do.
She’s amazing and strong and I hold her close.
she can talk! and read!
she grows so fast.
the next time the mother sees the baby, the mother is upset.
the mother is upset that she grew, that she is so big, that she can do these things. she wanted more time with the baby as a little baby. she doesn’t attune at all to what her baby is experiencing.
I tell the child that she’s perfect just as she is.
